Island Sewing & Embroidery
In December of 2012 we began working with the owners of Island Sewing & Embroidery as they undertook major renovations in their retail space, we were faced with the challenge of turning a bland office space into an inviting retail shop. Lighting is a huge part of retail, different spaces with specific needs had to be addressed and B Connected was up to the task. In the classroom, even distribution, good colour rendition, and glare free workspace meant we chose recessed parabolic lenses. The repair shop was in need of bright and efficient lighting for very fine tactile work on machines.
The real showpiece was the retail area. We designed a complete continuous track system to ensure complete lighting flexibility throughout the floor space, using hot spot free ICE par lamps for wall washing of display areas. To warm up the ambience of the store, chandeliers were added to the track system, thanks to some unique mounts by Philip Lightolier. All in all B Connected is very proud of a great looking install, and we wish Peter and Christa all the best . The care they show for their customers will ensure their success. St. Peter's Anglican ChurchBC Hydro is well known for its PowersmartTM rebate program. In 2012 there were excellent rebates available for lighting upgrades using L.E.D. technology and newer hi efficiency fluorescent retro fits. We were pleased to work with the board members of St. Peter's church in Campbell River to put together a lighting retro fit project for the entire church building. Standard T bar fluorescent fixtures were retro fitted in place with high efficiancy electric ballasts and modern T8 fluorescent lamps. All of the incandescents were replaced with L.E.D. lamps. All of this work was done with no disturbance to the church operations and its occupants.
A year on, and the analysis of power savings indicates $1100 in power saved, putting them on track for complete project pay back in less than 5 years. The hidden benefit for the church is that the lighting system of the building is essentially new, removing maintenance cost, not to mention that the maintenance people will appreciate the lack of trips up those VERY HIGH ladders to change bulbs in the A frame sanctuary, due to the expected 10 year life span of the L.E.D. products. |
Quadra Island Peoples Drug Mart
This commercial building was started in June of 2013 and completed by July of the next year. It includes 6000 sq feet of business space for Quadra Island Peoples Drug Mart and adjoining medical clinic. B Connected's first commercial design / build project was a success and we enjoyed collaborating with J. Toelle Construction to ensure that things came together perfectly. We wish the owners of Peoples Drug Mart, Shane and Colleen, the very best and next time your on the island, be sure to stop in.
